When it comes to building and growing your own business, It can feel really hard to show up and do the work when you aren't accountable to a boss or collaborating with co-workers.
It's in those moments that you notice thoughts like, "I just don't feel like it", or "I'm just not motivated."
Here’s the problem: so many of us are sitting around waiting to feel motivated. We don’t feel like eating healthier or going to the gym today, so we say we’ll start Monday. Maybe then we’ll feel motivated. We don’t want to write the thing or make the phone call because it feels hard/boring, stressful/overwhelming or all of the above. Since we don’t feel like it today, we put it off. We don’t want to raise our hand or do the thing that seems new and different, we feel uncomfortable doing something we’ve never done before, so instead of getting started, we put it off a little longer.
We do this all the time – and then we wonder things like, “Why am I not hitting my goals? Why am I not seeing progress on this thing that matters to me? Why do I constantly feel so behind?” And often, it’s because you’re waiting to feel motivated.
Getting things done involves more than thinking about doing something or wanting to do something. It requires ACTION. It involves decisions and follow through that create a desired result.
The good news I have for you today is that you can stop waiting to feel motivated because there’s something even more important that will help you get things done - commitment.
